   Yeah, I purposely didn't want it to be too flashy, but more subtle and down - to - earth. I think it suits me more.

   Yes, it must be. I've found that favicons don't seem to clear from the cache very easily... I think it's a Firefox bug.

   In case you're interested, Cathetel has a page on making an animated favicon - looks great on Firefox and Netscape, but because Internet Explorer only wants a static favicon, it will ignore the file, so you have to add special code so that IE will just deal with the static form. It's a way of site branding that goes (ominous drum music here) One Step BEYOND.

   Thanks, but I really believe animated favicons are crap.

   99% of the time they look like all the other stupied ugly animated gifs anno 1999.

   Animated images from 1999 were numerous and pointless and there was no size restriction. They were like Rhinestones on a Rhinestone cowboy. They were glaring and annoying. A Favicon is like a diamond around the neck of a lady at a party. It glints, and thereby attracts attention, without shouting. In the same way, advertising usually contains highlighting options, like bold type or images. However, for those of Quaker inclinations, perhaps they will get lucky, and the Puritans will take over the Internet. They will erase all signs of movement (including the flashing cursor), and eliminate all sound, and color. In fact, they could revert to the good old days of monochromatic monitors. Of course, personal preferences currently allows one to avoid such demonic inventions as animated Favicons by simply viewing the net through Internet Explorer.
